Our volunteer receptionists act as the public squatter of the service for clients and visitors who shepherd our offices during visit only sessions. These are some of the things you could be doing as a volunteer receptionist: Greeting our clients and other visitorsLetting colleagues know that clients/visitors have arrivedEnsuring clients know what is happening and how long they have to waitKeeping the reception zone tidyCopying relevant paperwork and passing this on to the adviserWorking with well-set office systems and proceduresWhere and when could I volunteer? This role is based in our municipality centre offices, within easy reach of public transport networks. The role requires a minimum transferral of four hours per week (either one morning session 9.30 am to 1.00 pm or one afternoon session 1.00 pm to 5.00 pm.Will there be training?The initial training for the role will include a one day consumer service training session, some e-learning and some self study. You would moreover be required to observe a member of the team/experienced volunteer during your first session. What opportunities are there to progress? After three months volunteering in the receptionist role, volunteers who have demonstrated their transferral and reliability will have the opportunity to undertake remoter learning to enable them to progress to flipside volunteer role within the organisation. This could be Digital Advice, Events, Web yack or Telephone Triage. There will moreover be opportunities to develop skills working withal the admin team.
